About Dr. Donald Glass
Donald A. Glass II, MD, PhD is a board-certified dermatologist and physician-scientist with more than 15 years of clinical experience and 20 years of biomedical research expertise. He is widely recognized for his work in medical and surgical dermatology, as well as his leadership in studying complex skin conditions such as keloids and rare genetic skin diseases (genodermatoses). Throughout his career, he has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to major advances in understanding the biology of scarring and skin disorders.
Originally from the Bahamas, Dr. Glass enrolled in the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP or MD/PhD program at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He received his PhD from the Department of Human Genetics (with Dr. Gerard Karsenty) at Baylor College of Medicine, where he studied the role of Canonical Wnt Signaling in Bone Regulation. He received his MD from Baylor College of Medicine the following year, and then completed his transitional year internship at Cambridge Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Glass completed his residency training in Dermatology and a postdoctoral fellowship in the McDermott Center (with Dr. Helen Hobbs and Dr. Jonathan Cohen) at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He joined the faculty thereafter and achieved the title of Associate Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology.

Dr. Glass is nationally known for his expertise in keloids and hypertrophic scarring, including their epidemiology, molecular underpinnings, and clinical management. His research spans basic, translational, and clinical approaches ls. He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications as well as several invited reviews and book chapters.

Dr. Glass has held leadership roles across multiple dermatologic organizations. He has served in committees and working groups for the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID), and is a Past President of the Skin of Color Society. His contributions reflect his long-standing commitment to advancing inclusive dermatologic research, improving representation in clinical studies, and supporting early-career investigators.
He has also contributed to the scientific community through editorial service, including roles on editorial boards and review panels for major dermatology and dermatologic research journals. His editorial work spans basic science, translational research, and clinical dermatology.
Throughout his career, Dr. Glass has been deeply committed to mentorship, education, and developing the next generation of dermatologists and physician-scientists. He has trained undergraduates, graduate students, residents, and fellows, fostering a culture of curiosity, rigor, and collaborative inquiry.
After more than a decade in academic medicine, Dr. Glass founded his private practice to provide a more personalized experience—one where patients feel seen, heard, and supported at every step. His clinic focuses on medical dermatology and procedural dermatology, delivered with the highest standards of safety, clarity, and patient service.
